Karunagaran & Sunita’s Engagement, 20 March 2008

This is the second time I am photographing Karu & Sunita, the first was for their registration ceremony. This time around I photographed their engagement which took place at Sunita’s House in Klang.

The couple were lucky as the sky was really gloomy, but it didn’t rain at all. The engagement ceremony went on well with abundant trays of gifts from Karu’s family. Well wishers came happily to get their group shots and the vegetarian food which was catered from ‘Bunga Raya Caterers’ was delish !

The night ended with cake cutting by the couple and family hitting the dance floor ! Congrats again Karu & Sunita…. ‘auf Wiedersehen’ till we meet again for your wedding.

I love taking portraits of people, more so of children. You would find some portrait shots taken during Sunita & Karu’s engagement. This is just a teaser, keep checking for more shots of the engagement which I will be posting up soon.

Kumar & Shanti’s Housewarming, 24 Feb 08

Posted in Parties with tags on March 1, 2008 by ashaharker

Here are some photos taken during a traditional Indian housewarming ceremony in Bukit Rimau, Shah Alam. The house was really beautiful, organic and contemporary looking.

A housewarming ceremony is usually performed on the occasion of one’s first entry into a new house. Once the house is ready, the family moves in on an auspicious day. A priest is called to bless the house, fresh cow’s milk is then boiled till it overflows to symbolise prosperity in the household. Cows or calves are also escorted into the house to further bless the house.

All the shots here were taken using a Sony DSC-H9 camera. My most favourite feature of this camera is the 3″ tilting CCD which is totally awesome.

I hope you enjoy the shots…sometimes you don’t need a huge DSLR camera with various lenses to get the shot that you need. I guess the person behind the camera is as important as the camera …don’t you think?

The single most important component of a camera is the twelve inches behind it
